about

"...Angerot’s sophomore LP The Divine Apostate is the distinct leap forward their debut foretold. With bold arrangements that transcend Swedeath and emerges with an identity all its own, it’s a turning-point record for Angerot...When the terminal note of closing track “Thy Kingdom Burned” fades, The Divine Apostate feels like an extraordinarily cohesive death metal experience."
- Decibel Magazine
www.decibelmagazine.com/2020/03/25/full-album-stream-angerot-the-divine-apostate/

"Formed in Sioux Falls in 2017, the death metallers continue the Boss HM-2 pedal worship seen on their debut The Splendid Iniquity, but the quartet fi and themselves leaving the Swedish influences behind for more straight-forward death and black metal ferocity."
- Metal Injection
metalinjection.net/upcoming-releases/angerot-new-death-metal-opus-below-the-deep-and-dreamless-sleep-not-meant-for-this-world

"..straight up, this is one of those songs that sends my mind into an apocalyptic past in another dimension where death and destruction have faces that reflect true evil. The vocals are definitely sung by a garrotted corpse, there’s no way a human makes such beautifully disgusting sounds. "
- CVLT NATION
cvltnation.com/sound-of-demise-angerot/

"An album of righteous brutality and furious hate, Angerot rip and tear their way through 8 tracks of hellish metal. Every singe moment dripping with savage atmosphere created by a combination of roaring guitars, thumping drums and twisted vocals. Angerot are the personification of the horsemen riding out to herald the war to end all wars."

" ...‘The Divine Apostate’ is not a plain follow-up but a whole resurfacing of the bands sound. As a fan I am grateful for the additional clarity, the impressive ambition applied, and the still merciless barrage they bring. A high recommendation, especially if you’re the type to key into propulsive Swanö-esque death metal."
- Grizzly Butts
grizzlybutts.com/2020/03/26/angerot-the-divine-apostate-2020-review/

"The Divine Apostate covers an intimidatingly impressive amount of ground across its eight tracks. This is a body of songs forged by the practiced hands of musicians who’ve been doing this shit for a long time....Angerot have put together something really powerful on their sophomore release."
- Death Comes Lifting
www.deathcomeslifting.com/angerot-divine-apostate-cardio-killer-review

"They have mastered the path they have chosen with some interesting additions to the music such as female vocals and choirs; intriguing parts outside of the death metal formula. It is an album that should be listened to from start to finish without a pause to get the whole picture and so fans of fast, heavy American death metal should be readying themselves for March 27th"
- Blessed Altar Zine
www.blessedaltarzine.com/2020/03/10/angerot-the-divine-apostate/

"I already know that this will be on my album of the year list. I cannot believe the jump in quality from a crushing debut to this landmark release all within a space of two years. Angerot have outdone themselves here and I don’t know how they will top this faultless album. 36 minutes of top quality death metal from a band only releasing its second album. The Divine Apostate will certainly raise some eyebrows and I for one will be playing this album on repeat many times in the months to come. Well done boys."
- Moshville Times
www.moshville.co.uk/reviews/album-review/2020/04/album-review-angerot-the-divine-apostate/

"..a perfect mix of speed, aggression and damn good Death Metal in the style of early Swedish Death Metal but done the American way!"
- All About the Rock UK
allabouttherock.co.uk/angerot-the-divine-apostate/

"Fiercely fiery and frighteningly furious, South Dakota’s Angerot have put a haunting spin on blackened death metal with the release of their sophomore full-length, The Divine Apostate. Using hellfire choir vocals to accentuate multiple tracks, this album almost reads like the soundtrack to some vampiric horror movie – and is all the better for it. Enjoyably chilling and satisfyingly unnerving, The Divine Apostate should net Angerot many well-earned and well-deserved new fans from all around the world, just like it did here at Hated One Headquarters. The Divine Apostate: bloodcurdlingly good! Rating: 9.5 / 10"
- Hated One Metal Reviews

"This boasts a style which is doused in a sinister shroud, excellent arrangements and exquisitely crafted atmosphere Death/Doom throughout rather than brutality or chuggery often associated with run of the mill Death, an epic narrative which conjures both biblical landscapes and Lovecraftian arenas. Better yet it carves a grin on the chops each time it invades the senses. Don’t sleep on this one!"
- Cult Metal Fix
cultmetalflix.wordpress.com/2020/04/16/abrasive-audio-2020-part-nine/

"ANGEROT is initially noticeable because it sets itself apart from other rather unknown Death Metal bands with a certain degree of originality. There is hardly any dull junk on the album, instead the band shows a surprisingly great feel for melody and theatrics. Sawing old-school guitars cut their way through threatening mid-tempo melodies that go straight to the ear and never leave it again so quickly. Add to that a good dose of well-placed madness."
- Zephyr's Odem
www.zephyrs-odem.de/cd-s/detail/angerot-the-divine-apostate-2020-10154/

"Excellent album, any lover of Death Metal, especially Swedish Death Metal, will delight in it. 9.4/10
- Dargedik

"It`s a great pleasure to hear that the growth of this band from their debut is massive. While this new offering includes the HM-2 worship plastered all over their debut, the Swedish elements are toned down immensely and are replaced with a nice palate of Death Metal and Black Metal leanings that range from early-mid Morbid Angel years to Behemoth of the last decade. The band also found a way to incorporate outside ingredients to aid in with the grandiosity."
- Permafrost Today
permafrost.today/2020/02/23/angerot-death-metal-from-sioux-fall/

"A record that at first surprises for the total change of genre by Angerot, especially if their debut album is known; once you enter the mood you can not help but appreciate the work of the band of South Dakota in this "The Divine Apostate": as said, while listening to the tracklist it almost seems that our people have always played this, dealing with everything very naturally. It therefore seems that the Angerot have found their way: all that remains is to see where it will take them."
- All Around Metal
www.allaroundmetal.com/component/content/article/26-releases/7142-tornano-gli-angerot-con-un-sound-totalmente-diverso-rispetto-il-debut-album

" “The Divine Apostate” sounds like something released by well-seasoned veterans, and in a time where primitive raw Death Metal is forcing everyone’s attention, I am happy that a band like Angerot is here to show us that Death Metal can have a modern, progressive sound without being overly technical or pretentious, and still smash skulls like no other. At the very least, “The Divine Apostate” is the pinnacle of what Death Metal should sound like right now. At the most, it is the future sound of Death Metal."

A couple of years ago ANGEROT turned heads in the underground metal scene with the release of their debut album The Splendid Iniquity in 2018. Enlisting the infamous Tomas Skogsberg at Sunlight Studios to help invoke some Swedish magic to the project, The Splendid Iniquity was a solid introduction for the band and received a plethora of postive reviews. While the band itself may appear fairly young, ANGEROT's members are far from newcomers to the scene having roots that stem back to the origin’s of Mid-Western US Death Metal. With this pedigree it is more easy to explain their colossal jump from one album to the next.

Redefining Darkness Records are extemely excited to be a herald for The Becoming; the evolution of ANGEROT with their forthcoming album The Divine Apostate. While this new offering includes the HM-2 worship plastered all over their debut, the Swedish elements are toned down immensely and are replaced with a wonderful palate of Death and Black Metal leanings that range from early-mid Morbid Angel years to Behemoth of the last decade. The band also found a way to incorporate outside ingredients to aid in it's grandiousity reminding me of my favorite era of Celtic Frost. It's refreshing to hear a band, while in love with the tone of the HM-2, that are not slaves to it and very well prove it with this incredibly stunning release! The growth of this band from their debut is MASSIVE - I think this album will take many by surprise and may even appear on some of your End of Year favorites.

And for the proverbial cherry on top, ANGEROT recruited guests Snowy Shaw ( King Diamond, Memento Mori, Notre Dame, etc ), Terrance Hobbs (Suffocation), and Ben Ash (Carcass, Satyricon - live) to add a little extra "POP" to this already tantalizing dish.
